The First Morning in Bonn

On our first morning in Bonn, we took a tour of the area surrounding the central train station, Hauptbonnhof, and our home away from home, AIB. The marketplace and roads in Bonn are so awesome. Every building you see has a shop on the bottom floor, and the roads create a winding maze of stores, pharmacies, and food outlets. Walking around Bonn is like being in one large outdoor shopping mall with buildings from the 1500-1700's. Also inside most blocks of buildings, there are seperate shopping malls, called passages, which have exits/entrances on either side of the block of buildings. They're typically named for the street they're on, like Kaiser passage, or Wilhelm passage. Some of the passages are actually really cool 2-4 story mini-malls with upscale restaurants and stores.

Inside the main train station, Hauptbonnhof.

Outside the front of the station. It was a blisteringly cold 23 degrees.

Another view of the plaza outside the front of Hauptbonnhof.

Every road in bonn is made of stone and brick like this, lined with shops and stores.
